Edge Tuning
Precision tuning of side and base edges for enhanced grip and control on all snow conditions.
Infrared Waxing
deeper wax penetration for longer-lasting, higher-performance gliding due to the infrared heat's gentle, even, and deep effect on the base material

Roto Brushing the Base
Brushing the base after waxing is essential to remove excess wax from the base pores to ensure enhanced gliding properties.

A base grind is crucial for restoring a flat base, fixing damage, and adding a structure pattern to enhance glide
scraping the base to remove the bulk of the wax, then using a roto brush to pull remaining wax out of the base's structure
Ski & Snowboard Service
Maintenance Tune: This service includes base cleaning, removing burrs and hard spots, edge polishing, and infra-red hot wax application
Full Tune: Includes all features of the maintenance tune plus a detailed edge tuning for optimal grip and glide
Base & Edge Services
Base Repairs: Minor or major repairs to the base of your skis or snowboard, including core shots and deep gouges
Base Grinding: A service to restore a flat and smooth base structure, essential for proper wax absorption and glide
P-Tex Repairs: Filling of scratches and gouges in the base using P-Tex material
Edge Repairs: Repair of damaged or bent edges
Edge Tuning: Hand filing and de-burring of edges for a smooth, sharp, and durable finish
Edge Grinding: Machine grinding of edges to restore the correct geometry and sharpen them
Edge Sharpening: Fine-tuning and sharpening of edges for maximum grip and control on hardpack and ice
Sidewall Trimming: Trimming of the sidewalls to expose more of the metal edge, allowing for a sharper edge angle
Waxing Services
Infra-Red Hot Wax: The infrared light provides a gentle, even, and deep-reaching heat that allows the wax to be absorbed more effectively into the base. This results in a longer-lasting wax job and better gliding performance
Storage Wax: I developed a Vacuum Storage Bag System for skis and snowboards, where the equipment is waxed, polished and then sealed in a airtight Vacuum Bag, which means your equipment is protected but also ready for immediate use should the mountains be calling, no more scraping off storage wax or worse having to get a full tune done to restore the edges
Storage Wax Removal: Scraping off the excess wax followed by brushing to clean out the base structure
Other Repairs
Top Sheet Repairs: Repairing of chips, scratches, or de-lamination on the top sheet of skis and snowboards
Top Sheet Edge Trimming: Trimming of any overhang on the top sheet to prevent chipping and improve durability
Binding & Equipment Services
Binding Adjustments: adjustment of your bindings to match your boot sole length, weight, and skier type for safety and performance

Frequently Asked Questions
What services do you offer?
We offer full edge tunes, maintenance edge tunes, base repairs, edge repairs, top sheet repairs, base grinding, binding adjustments and waxing services for skis and snowboards.
Brand New Equipment Setup Tunes are our Speciality !!!
What is your background and qualification?
I'm a former junior ski racer in Austria, a certified Austrian ski instructor and a mechanical engineer with over 45 years of experience in tuning Snow-Sport Equipment
So what's the solution ?
I'm glad you asked !!!
With our high humidity and salty air here on the Gold Coast and Qld especially, it only takes a few days before rust starts showing on unprotected edges. For this reason, I developed a Vacuum Storage Bag System for skis and snowboards, where the equipment is waxed, polished and then sealed in a airtight Vacuum Bag, which means your equipment is protected but also ready for immediate use should the mountains be calling, no more scraping off storage wax or worse having to get a full tune done to restore the edges.
Where are you located?
We are located in Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast, providing convenient access for all ski and snowboard enthusiasts.
Why is there rust on my equipment?
Rust forms on ski / snowboard edges due to exposure to moisture and salt, commonly occurring from improper post-skiing drying or storage in a humid environment.
How to Prevent Rust
To prevent it, always wipe your skis dry, and store them in a dry, climate-controlled location. Avoid basement, garage and attics. Often a storage wax, an extra thick layer of wax, is applied to the base which also covers the edges, a common problem with this practice is that if the edges are NOT completely DRY, moisture can be trapped under the storage wax and this creates a much bigger problem as the rust starts growing and growing and eventually the steel edges start decaying.
The Benefits of getting your edges tuned
Enhanced Grip and Control:
Sharp edges provide the necessary bite into the snow, allowing you to carve cleanly and maintain control, particularly on icy or hard-packed conditions.
Improved Turning Performance:
When edges grip the snow, they enable the ski to flex into a turning arc, resulting in smooth, powerful turns instead of skidded ones.
Deeper Carving:
A sharp edge cuts into the snow more effectively, leading to deeper, more aggressive carvings and a more satisfying ride.
Extended Ski Life:
By removing burrs and keeping the base and edges smooth, tuning helps your skis perform better and last longer.
Better Glide:
Alongside waxing, sharp edges contribute to better overall glide, making for a smoother and more efficient ride.
When should you get your edges tuned
Signs of Dullness:
You'll notice your skis are not gripping as they used to, and you may find yourself sliding more.
Skiing on Icy Conditions:
Tuning is essential for skiing on extremely hard or icy snow to maintain grip.
After Major Damage:
If your edges have become damaged or uneven, a tuning session is necessary to restore their shape.
Regular Maintenance:
For optimal performance, consider a tune-up at the start of the season and periodically throughout.
Before Specific Conditions:
If you plan to ski on very hard or icy terrain, tuning your edges beforehand will make a significant difference.
Why it is recommended to do an Edge Set-Up Tune for Brand New Equipment
You might wonder if you really need to sharpen your brand new skis since the edges already look sharp. Despite appearances, proper initial set-up and sharpening can drastically enhance your performance as well as your overall skiing experience. Additionally it is highly recommended to wax brand new bases multiple times to ensure proper saturation of the base pores, as most equipment leaves the factories without or just a hint of wax, on top of that the skis or snowboards might be stored in a warehouse for months before being shipped to the shops.
A good gliding Ski or Snowboard is much more fun than having to push all the time !!!!
Exceptional service! My skis have never performed better after their tuning.
